Advice from an Old Man: You’re looking at a stage performance with strobe lights and loud music and calling it a church. Stop chasing a religious rock concert and get your nose back into a real Bible.
Why Is the Church So Fake?
The Whitewashed Tombs in the Pews
Let's be completely honest: you are walking away from the church because you are sick of the blatant hypocrisy.
You watch people sit in the pews on Sunday pretending to be saints, and then you see them live like the rest of the world on Monday. You see leaders who demand total obedience from you, but they completely refuse to police their own circles or hold themselves accountable to the Word of God.
The internet calls it "church trauma." The Bible calls it a total lack of holiness, and God despises it just as much as you do.
Look at how sharply Jesus calls out this exact kind of performance: "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness." — Matthew 23:27 "You serpents, you brood of vipers, how will you escape the sentence of hell?" — Matthew 23:33
Modern churches have traded real, broken worship for a slick, polished performance. They find it much easier to compromise with the culture than to stand firmly on the narrow road of truth. They water Scripture down into cheap motivational speeches so nobody gets offended, because they are terrified that if they preach the raw truth, people will stop giving money. They are quick to judge your flaws while completely blinding themselves to their own greed, pride, and compromise.
But do not confuse the fake performance of religious hypocrites with the perfection of Jesus Christ. People will fail you, compromise, and let you down, but Christ remains completely faithful. Stop looking at the hypocrites in the vipers' den and look at the Savior on the cross. He didn't come to start a corporate religious show; He came to save your soul from sin.
