Advice from an Old Man
Life is hard. I have lived long enough to know that wishing it were easier does not make it easier. You will get hurt, disappointed, and knocked down. When that happens, do not quit on God. Get up, learn what you can, and keep walking with Him. ______________________________________________________________
“Man, who is born of woman, is short-lived and full of turmoil.” (Job 14:1)
Life is hard because this world is broken. People lie, relationships fall apart, bodies get sick, and plans do not always work out. Sometimes you can do your best and still get hurt.
Jesus never promised an easy life. He said, “In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) Trouble is part of living here, but trouble does not mean God has left you.
Some of our problems also come from our own choices. Scripture says, “For whatever a person sows, this he will also reap.” (Galatians 6:7) We cannot keep making foolish choices and then blame God when life gets ugly.
Hard times can also show us what is really inside us. They can build endurance, teach us patience, and expose whether we truly trust God. “Knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.” (James 1:3)
So why is life so hard? Because this world is broken, people make bad choices, and sometimes God allows hard things to shape us.
Do not spend your life waiting for everything to get easier. Learn to trust God while it is hard.
