Country Sausage and Potato Skillet
An easy, filling supper made in one skillet with simple ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
- 4 medium potatoes, peeled or unpeeled and cut into small pieces
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons butter or cooking oil
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder, optional
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Directions
- Heat the butter or oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the potatoes and onion. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Cover and cook for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring now and then, until the potatoes begin to soften.
- Add the sliced sausage and cook uncovered for another 8 to 10 minutes. Stir often so the potatoes brown without sticking.
- When the potatoes are tender and the sausage is hot, sprinkle the cheese over the top.
- Cover for 2 or 3 minutes, until the cheese melts.
- Serve hot.
